Ultra Low Noise Twin Linear Power Supply
The Keces Audio P9 is a dual-output audiophile linear power supply from the highly acclaimed Pier Series , based upon the P28 reference model. Designed to deliver absolute purity of current with extremely good price/performance ratio, it ensures perfectly stable voltage, without ripple or parasitic noise. Thanks to its oversized, potted, silent toroidal transformer and its fully discrete component architecture, it delivers a power supply of exemplary precision, optimizing the dynamics and transparency of any Hi-Fi system, streamer, DAC, network switch, router, modem and pre-amplifier, turntabel power supply, phono preamp, headphones amp with extended (switch mode) power supplies…
The new P9 linear power supply inherits advanced circuitry from its predecessors P28 and P14. With two independent 5 A outputs supporting voltages from 5 V to 24 V, the P9 provides consistent low-noise power for sensitive Hi-Fi components, ensuring stability in high-demand setups. The unit features gold-plated DC terminals within a robust aluminum housing, featuring a separate grounding post. Both internal power supplies have their own, separated ground – thus enhancing the separation between the two devices connected. Even under heavy load, the Keces P9 convinces with minimal hum and noise and demonstrates exceptional stability. The pure silver mains cabling and the double thickness copper layers (2 oz.) of the PCB tracks undoubtedly add to these excellent specs. Of course a high quality power supply like this has thermal overload protection and an overvoltage protection.
The new P9 addresses some minor issues the P8 had, like the display. Some people regarded it too small, others too bright, or… too dim. The P9 simply got rid of the display, also bettering the quality of the output voltage because that display added more high frequency noise than you would ever expect. Also, the combination of output voltages is much more practical than before. The chance of you getting two usable output voltages for your devices in just one power supply is much higher than with the P8. You can now, for example, select two independent 12 V voltages or a 5 V and a 19 V supply voltage. The P9 is able to deliver up to 5 Amps continuous and up to 7 Amps peak, which is considerably more than the predecessor P8. Suddenly, power hungry devices like certain streamers and NUCs(!) actually CAN be powered with the P9, while the P8 sometimes was too weak… It is available now in The Netherlands at a price just under 900 Euros.
You can imagine, any electronic device needs a good power supply, here the rules are simple: the cleaner the power supply, the better ANY electronic device will perform. The Keces P9 features an output voltage quality that is hundreds(!) of times more noise- and hum-free than the average simple switch mode power supply supplied with your A/V device. The audible and visible results are staggering: due to the absence of hundreds of millivolts of HF-noise, the background will be much more silent, at the same time, micro-details are no longer masked and will be clearly audible. Dynamics are enhanced and the overall performance will sound more powerful.
Currently, there’s no other dual output high-end power supply that only stands a chance against this new Keces P9, especially at this price point. If the maximum power of a P6 is sufficient for your application, you can take this one without going into any compromise. If you need more than 2 outputs, you’d better look at the P14 or even the P28. In the price class between 600 and 2800 Euros, Keces simply dominates the market for high end audiophile power supplies and the manufacturer can only be congratulated with this achievement.
Chapeau, Keces!
Reviews:
